Cats and Rats

When we moved into the house on the hill we inherited 3 or 4 stray cats. Two of them made it to winter and then one of them stuck around and had kittens. So no we have the mother cat, 4 kittens from the first litter and now she has 3 new kittens.

When she had the original litter she would bring up an occasional rabbit, mouse or mole, no big deal really.

Yesterday when I got home I found this rat. Almost as big as the mother cat laying next to the box for the newest kittens to munch on. I’m not sure where she found this rat and I’m not sure I want to know. This is a serious “Terminator” size rat. The tail was at least a foot long.

Some things at work are just to funny!

Some times things happen at work that are just to funny to keep to myself.  Case in point, this week we had a car that was to old for “Cash for Clunkers” brought in to be worked on. It was a fine pink 1977 T-Bird.

Ryan was trying to get it running. As I walked by he said, “My mom was 11 when this car was made.”  And if that wasn’t funny enough he said he’d never worked on a carburetor before, not even in school.

Mommy you'll be dead before I grow up.

My youngest daughter, Meredith, was commenting on Pattie’s (my wife’s) gray hair the other day. She told Pattie, “Mommy, you’ll be dead before I grow up.”  I guess it’s time for Pattie to start coloring her hair again.

Are Residential Wind Turbines the Answer

If you are looking for a way to save on your energy bills, and who isn’t these days, may be the answer is residential wind turbines. There are some basic requirements that you’ll need to check on first.

1. What are the zoning laws?
2. Do you have enough average wind speed to make it feasible?
3. Do you have the space?
Those are just a few of the questions that will need to be answered. For more information check out http://www.residentialwind-turbines.com

The high cost of an oil change

Have you ever wondered why it cost so much to get an oil change these days? I mean it can’t be just the price of oil, can it?

Well I have proof why it cost so much.

Ok obviously their doing more than just changing the oil, but I couldn’t resist.

Building a Bird's Nest

Yesterday at lunch I watched this robin, start building this nest. By 5:30pm when I left this was the finished product.

The funny part is, this vehicle was just parked out back behind the shop at 10:30am and we’ll be bringing it back in to finish the work on it this am. So all that hard work for nothing.

Kind of reminds me of a story I heard in Bible class growing up…”the wiseman builds his house upon a rock, and the foolish man builds his house upon the sand.”

This picture of the robin can apply to a lot of areas of life: home, work, retirement, business, eternity, etc.

Where are you building today? Will it last?
